~ Sometimes, one degree is all that separates you from the one you were meant to be with. ~
Wes Bergman was sex on a stick.
We’d been circling one another our entire lives, mingling at the same clubs... attending the same events…sharing mutual acquaintances…yet we’d never actually met.
Until . . . we both boarded a Windjammer Cruise in the Caribbean. And it was like meeting my long, lost best friend for the first time. I hadn’t ever connected with a guy that way before.
But Wes had a girlfriend. So, when the week was over, he walked off the ship, unknowingly taking a piece of my heart with him.
Now, over a decade later, newly divorced, I’m the proverbial fish out of water. Dating has totally changed. Apps. Swipe left. Swipe right. Catfishing. Men my age want two things: twenty-five-year-olds—like my ex’s new child bride of a wife—or just a quick hook-up.
After a string of bad dates, I finally did something I never thought I’d do. I had a hot one-night stand with a really handsome guy I met online who didn’t even know my real name.
Turned out Mr. Fling is a big shot for my company’s newest client. And just my
luck, that client’s CEO is none other than . . . Wes Bergman.
Now I’m separated by one degree again from the man who stole my heart.
And Mr. Fling could destroy my chance of what I want most –
A Do-Over with Wes.

His hand slowly stroking up and down the outside of my thigh is what roused me from my dream state. It was so soft and tender that I was getting more and more turned on with every movement. With my eyes still closed, I enjoyed the sensation. It wasn’t until his lips started brushing my shoulder, that I was unable to stifle a moan, revealing that I was awake. “Good morning,” his whisper was hoarse. “Mmm, good morning.” I stretched my body against his and turned my head to see his face hovering over mine, before our lips met. “Sleep good?” “Surprisingly, I did. I was so exhausted. Sorry for passing out on you last night,” I apologized. “I think we both passed out the moment our heads hit the pillows.” Wes’ hand had migrated from my thigh to my stomach, where he softly drew circles with his fingertips. Rolling over to face him, I pushed my hair out of the way, silently praying my humidity enhanced curls didn’t make me look like a deranged housewife, scaring the erection right out of the man. Slinging a leg over his thigh, I instantly got my answer. The crazy morning coif was not a cock killer. Thank God! “You’re a morning person, I see.” Hiding my smile was not a possibility. “Yeah, I am,” Wes laughed, moving closer to me, his eyes filled with the unmistakable desire to become lovers, something I’d dreamed about on the deck of a windjammer long ago. “You can wake me up like this anytime.” I needed to let him know it was okay. He’d said he’d take it as slow as I wanted it and what I wanted right now was a slow rhythm of him plowing into me. Hard. “Are you hard to wake up?” He was pressed up against me. “I think you’ll figure out the secrets to rousing me.” “You’ve already figured out the secrets to arousing me.” His voice still had that sexy edge of morning roughness to it, making me want to skip all foreplay and have him inside me. “I’ll bet you have a few more secrets I can discover,” I said against his lips, as I shifted the leg I had slung over him, pressing my heat and wetness against his already throbbing cock. Wes groaned and I could feel his smile against my lips. “You know you’re going to make it impossible to make slow, sweet love to you.” “Good, because I don’t want it slow and sweet.” Wes flipped me onto my back, “I can easily accommodate your wishes. Are you on anything or do I need to…” “We’re good,” I assured him. “Yes, we are.” He kissed my neck, then swiftly pulled my tank top over my head tossing it to the floor. “We’re going to be really good together. Of that, I have no doubt.” And I knew he was right. Being with this man had been so perfect from the night we met. We meshed with ease and the result was pure joy. The warmth in his eyes and smile made my breath catch, and in that moment, I was flooded with overwhelming emotion at how much I wanted him. How much I’d always wanted him. It was more than lust, beyond the heat of the moment. Wes Bergman was the man I had always wanted, from the night we met. That was clear to me now. “I vote we skip the foreplay.” I wriggled out of my underwear. “You’re on.” His smile told me he was taking on the challenge. “You’re in,” I gasped, my breath catching in my throat, surprised at the swiftness with which he filled my request.

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.
Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it's something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.
Evil doesn’t exist.
Neither does ‘good.’
Vampires do, though.
I just happen to be one.
I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.
I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.
I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I'm in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.
Battles, I can handle.
The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?
I might not get out undead.

The duo snogging didn’t bother to make room for us, leaving me no choice but to stand on the same side of the lift with Alex. With our arms brushed against one another, heat spread across my skin like a raging wildfire. The two of us snuggled close in a compact space. My hand still tingled from his touch. It was impossible to concentrate on anything other than him. He was here. Right next to me, looking gorgeous and smelling perfectly divine. All sense I had retreated from my brain as I stood there fantasizing about pushing him up against the wall and allowing him to shag . . . fuck the hell out of me.

Shut up, Ella, you dirty bird.

When the car reached the fifth floor, and the couple playing slap and tickle walked out, I stifled a moan of relief. Unsure if I was comforted due to the fact that they left or that I had Alex all to myself. I glanced at him, trying to get a sense of his thoughts. His mouth was pressed into a hard line, and his eyes remained forward, fixed on the numeric panel.

The lift came to a halt at the lobby and Alex stepped out, his head turned left and back to the right. The unrehearsed movement was fluid. He motioned for me to walk in front of him, but I had no clue where we were going.

“You lead the way.”

“All right, but keep your pace with mine,” he instructed. His voice was firm not angry.

I nodded, and did as I was instructed, keeping my stride with his as we passed through the spacious lobby. Something had changed his demeanor during the ride in the lift . . . elevator. Mentally I noted that I needed to brush up on my American English. If I intended to do business here, I should at least make the effort to know the proper terms.

Once outside, his hand reached inside his jacket pocket, pulling out his sunglasses. As we approached the valent stand, he put them on, shielding me from seeing his gorgeous eyes that reminded me of glowing golden sunlight sifting through deep green leaves.

Snap out of it, Ella. He’s your bodyguard.

Straightening my shoulders, I hauled my handbag higher onto my shoulder. I vowed to lock all my scandalous thoughts away.

This is the first book by Christy I have read and I loved it.  Ella and Alex have a one night stand and they don’t even tell each other their real names.  After all Ella figured she would never see him again.  Then the next day she meets the body guard her brother hired for her while she is in town and there stands the guy she slept with the night before.  Alex can’t believe his luck.  He sees this as his chance to get to know Ella like he wants. They are both trying to move past something.  Ella is trying to get on with her life after her party girl ways and a bad situation with an ex.  Alex has been somewhat stuck for the last several years.  Will they be able to help each other move on?  Will Alex let his past fears and guilt effect his relationship with Ella?  They both have baggage; Alex more than Ella.  Guilt is a powerful emotion and so is fear.  Alex finds himself in a similar situation as ones he has had in the past.  Ella worries that the past will repeat itself.  While they are attracted to each other and want there to be something more between them will they be able to follow their feelings and hearts?  I really enjoyed this book and it pulled me in.  Alex has a need to protect but fears getting to close and that affecting his ability to protect those he loves.  This book really pulls at the heart string during certain parts; which makes you pull for the characters even more.  I am eager to read more books in this series.

When the clan challenges her to take their team on in a real game of hunters and prey, she can’t resist the lure. Is she strong enough to be their woman? Grizz, Oso, and Kodie are Pantherian bear shifters, born into a culture where men have learned to share and protect their species’ most limited resource—females. They’ve accepted they will never have a Pantherian female as their shared mate.  But can a human female handle a Pantherian, mating trio. If so, will she still want them when she knows what they are? Are any of them strong enough to outsmart fate? When the game puts hearts and lives on the line, taking a loss is the only way to win.

This is the first book Nara I have read.  I enjoyed it.  This book is slightly futuristic with all the virtual reality.  I do enjoy shifter books and books on the naughtier side.  This book is a quick read or at least it was for me.  Katy is an interesting character.  She tries to live under the radar and feels most alive when in the game.  The Grizzlys are the only ones who have ever captured Katy in game and they just may capture her in real life as well.  The guys are bear shifters who come from a different place.  They never thought they would find one woman for all three of them but that is exactly who Katy is.  Now they just have to convince her to be with all three of them.  They may even have to turn their back on their bears to be with her.  Cause who would agree to be with three let alone three men who turn into bears?  This book takes you on an interesting journey.  It is steamy and then some.  I would like to read more about these characters and even about Katy's sister.  I look forward to reading more books by Nara in the future.

Cash’s POV
“Stay.”

It’s uttered so quietly, I assume she’s dreaming. Without turning to look at her, I take another step out of the room.

“Please.”

There is a desperate sound in her tone that seizes my heart and traps the air in my lungs. Turning back, I go to the side of the bed and crouch down, so I’m eye-level with her. Softly, I push the hair off her forehead and hold her gaze. All her defenses are down. If a person’s eyes are windows to their soul, I feel like I’m seeing into the depths of her. Seeing all the broken pieces.

“All right, baby girl, I’ll stay.”
